Peggy, Thank you for the tips. They are very helpful but I would like more detail on "How to target Hiring managers?" Most importantly- How do you identify them in your area? (My area is Six Sigma Lean Process Improvement- Tempe/Phoenix Arizona). Once names are identified perhaps some details for getting their direct contact information - not always in Linked in.

Here is an interesting dilemma. A recruiter calls you up and goes over some of the compensation and has few details on the car policy. Only stating that one would get reimbursed for travel outside of a 100 kilometer area. However 50% of the territory is with in this area.I can for see this costing me money. Is this something I bring up in the Questions area of interview or should I have the recruiter dig up this information?

Thank you very much! I look your video thoroughly and it was very important information for me. North American traditions of getting job is completely different then in Russia and it is not easy to accept them. I'll try.

I can attest to the "Close for the offer" aspect. A couple of months ago, I had an opportunity to interview for a great position and at the end of the first interview with the hiring manager I asked, "After what we've discussed here today do you see any reason I wouldn't be successful in the role?" The interviewer was caught a little off guard, but proceeded to list all the positives that made me a great candidate. I made it to a 3rd interview. While ultimately I did not recieve the offer (company hired the local candidate)that question prompted the hiring manager to think about me in the role.

I like the tips, but you can do away with the introduction (just use the banner) and the trailer. I also like you better with the black blazer on. The one on job experience without the necessary background was the best presentation.
You might also consider having a round table discussion for some of these topics.

Wow Peggy I want to thank you for the tips, they help.
The main thing I bring home and have to think about is
--> the job interview is a SALES process <--
Now, I'm an EE with a purely tech role (with supervision/mentoring of younger engineers) so I tend to see interviews as a "matching" process where everything is rational and clearly defined. Opposed to that, a sales process is - at least to my understanding - an emotional process. So I guess I'll have to ponder your affirmations and build on them.
Along the same lines, virtually all of the interviews I had in the past have had somebody from the Human Resources assessing my motivation but the core of the process has been a tech assesment: do I have the skills needed for the job?
So the tip about the "buyers", the Hiring Managers, came strange to me.
This is also probably due to the fact that I'm European and work in Europe, I have a feeling things are a bit different overseas :)
Anyways, I'm planning to scan US market as - although hard for a foreigner - it looks like there is so much more opportunities for me.

Look forward to your tips!

Peggy,

You have given me the tools to focus like a laser beam on positions that I wish to obtain. Before I was blanketing numerous openings with no real focus. Now I focus on one or two openings per week because that is all I can handle implementing your techniques. It has worked! I now have an interview with the first position I focused on using your technique. Your technique is all encompassing and what is needed to not only reach hiring managers, but to stand out in the face of a crowd. Those are the candidates employers are looking for. You are teaching me how to market myself where before I thought it was boasting or bragging. It works!

Thank you for helping me get an interview and changing my life with hopefully a great job offer. How can I help you?
